Ho Chi Minh City wants to speed up many projects in Thu Thiem

Smart complex; Thu Thiem Bridge 2, 4; pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River… was asked to speed up the progress.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has just asked the Ministry of National Defense to direct Ba Son Corporation and the Naval Command of Region 2 to soon hand over the site to investors, to implement the construction of the Thu Thiem 2 bridge project (connecting Districts 1 and 2) on schedule.
Mr. Phong also asked the department to advise the city to approve the land price for compensation and support for this bridge project.
Thu Thiem 2 Bridge with a total investment of VND 4,260 billion started construction in early 2015, is expected to be completed on April 30, 2018. Currently, the project has basically completed the items from Thu Thiem urban area (District 2) to the middle of the Saigon River. As for the part in District 1, the site is currently under the management of the Ministry of National Defense, so the work cannot be completed as planned.

City leaders also requested the Department of Planning and Investment to publish information about the Thu Thiem 4 bridge project (connecting Districts 2 and 7) in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP) for investors to register to prepare a project pre-feasibility study report. The project has a total capital of about 5,200 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong also extended Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company to complete the proposal of the project to build a pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River (connecting Districts 1 and 2) in the form of BT (build - transfer) for 2 more months, from the date the City People's Committee has comments on the selection of architectural options.
The Department of Planning and Architecture was assigned to guide this company to prepare and submit at least 3 architectural plans suitable for the pedestrian bridge design task.
Regarding the architectural plan of the Smart Complex (Thu Thiem Eco Smart City) at Functional Area 2a, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong agreed with the opinion of the Architecture - City Planning Council on the complex of works at Lot 2-5 (from two blocks to a tower block), the maximum height of 50-60 floors, still keeping the construction floor area on the ground about 120,000 m2.
This smart complex includes a shopping center, hotel, serviced apartment... With the permission of the Prime Minister, Ho Chi Minh City has appointed a consortium of 7 Korean and Japanese companies as the investor of the project with a capital of about 2.2 billion USD.
According to the plan, there will be 5 bridges and an underpass connecting other areas of the city with Thu Thiem urban area (District 2). Currently, Thu Thiem 1 bridge and tunnel crossing the Saigon River (connecting District 2 and District 1) have been built and put into use.
Thu Thiem urban area is 657 hectares wide, located on the east bank of the Saigon River, opposite District 1 (300 meters away from the crow flies) which is expected to be the most beautiful in Southeast Asia. This is a modern and expanded center of Ho Chi Minh City, with functions of finance, culture, commerce, high-class services, rest, entertainment...
After more than 20 years of approval by the Prime Minister, the project has cleared the ground for 99%. More than 100 households have complained from the city to the central government for a long time because they think that their houses are not within the planning boundaries… The Government Inspectorate is expected to have a conclusion on the issues that people complain about, but has not been announced so far.
